| "Happy and successful cooking doesn't realy on know-how; it comes from the heart, makes great demands on the palate and needs an enthusiasm and a deep love of food to bring it to life" Georges Blanc Ma Cuisine des Saisons MEET THE CHEF I learned to cook at an early age and have always enjoyed “playing with my food.” After many years in the corporate world, I finally decided to trust my instincts and listen to my heart. The little voice inside said “go forth and cook for others.” It gives me great joy to show people what real, honest food is all about and how actually sitting down and enjoying a home-cooked, nutritious meal can be one of life’s greatest pleasures. For most of my adult life I have cooked for many family gatherings and entertained friends with elaborate dinner parties. The preparation of new dishes and the challenge to make everything from scratch and with the freshest quality ingredients available was always my criteria, whether it was homemade biscotti, elaborate, decadent cakes, a multi-layered potato torte, or simply the freshest asparagus I could find, drizzled with a fine balsamic vinegar to enhance the flavor. The desire to constantly learn was the motivating factor that took my interest in cooking to a new level. Over the past 10 years I have attended and assisted with many cooking classes, worked at various catering venues including the Dallas Museum of Art and the Nasher Sculpture Center as well as 2 restaurants to gain experience, and am constantly reading to keep abreast of food trends, techniques, and other related information. Enrolling in culinary school gave me an opportunity to expand my knowledge and skills and become more proficient on many levels. In addition, I joined the American Personal & Private Chef Association where I received professional training and mentoring, which resulted in the formation of “Designed Cuisine.” As personal chefs we believe in working with our clients as “Partners in Lifestyle Solutions.” We are not just preparing food, we are giving the gift of time - time to enjoy what life demands and deserves. It is extremely satisfying to help my clients through the preparation of delicious, nutritious meals that benefit the mind, body and soul all at one time. |
